Digital Network Associates to produce Sugar Land Skeeters 2014 and 2015 home schedule for ESPN
Digital Network Associates and Opening Day Partners, owners of the Sugar Land Skeeters, will produce over 70 home games that will be broadcast for ESPN.
DNA will provide mobile broadcast facilities and transmission for the entire season including the All Star Game for the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs, a softball game featuring local celebrities including Roger Clemens, and any potential playoff games.
DNA will provide an innovative way of transmitting the broadcast signal back to ESPN via IP encoding and fiber lines. ESPN, based in Bristol Connecticut, will decode the signal for distribution to its family of networks including ESPN3.com. DNA will bypass the traditional satellite transmission and utilize Fujitsu IP encoders to deliver the signal.
The Sugar Land Skeeters, who captured an all-time best Atlantic League record of 95-45 in 2013, are led by former Major Leaguer Gary Gaetti and will host the 2014 Atlantic League All-Star Game on July 16, 2014 at Constellation Field, a state-of-the-art stadium located just 20 minutes from downtown Houston. The Skeeters play 140 regular season games (70 home, 70 away) in the Atlantic League, considered the highest level of Minor League Baseball. Atlantic League players are “Major League ready” and in the last 16 years, over 600 players have graduated from Atlantic League clubs to Major League organizations, making the League a preferred route for experienced players to be scouted by Major League Baseball.
The Skeeters have also invited former Houston Rockets basketball player Tracy McGrady to pitch for them this season. http://www.sugarlandskeeters.com/team/news/index.html?article_id=520
